Rating : - Rick Steve's convertible carryon luggage Bought two of these nifty carry-on luggage; one for me and one for my son. We just returned from two weeks in Europe and, as Rick Steves would say, we literally lived out of these pieces of luggage. Generally I have no complaints. They are roomy enough to carry what I needed for two weeks of travel, though when full are a bit on the heavy side to wear as a backpack. The side-zipper "hidden" pocket was especially useful for stowing away my file folder with all of our maps and reservation printouts. The upper zippered large pocket was good for stowing my "Liberator" extension cord and the ever useful Rick Steves braided clotheslines.
My only concern is with the design of the cinch-down straps on the outside of the luggage. I had no problems, but I would feel better if they were attached in a way that minimized the strain on the zipper of the main compartment when the luggage was packed full and worn as a backpack. I am afraid with more use that the strain may prove to be too much for those zippers because the cinch-down straps do not include the zipper area.
